Who should apply?
Parents interested in a school that offers a personalized learning experience in a loving, Christ-centered environment will want to look into Beacon Prep. Beacon is ideal for children with mild developmental and learning differences as well as gifted students who would benefit from a small school with a lot of hands-on experience.
We are not equipped to service children who have moderate to severe differences, and we cannot accept children with behavior/anger issues. As you likely know, our children learn from their peers, so negative behaviors must to be as limited as possible. Also, most of our students have had many stressful years in school settings that were overwhelming for them. We must give them a learning environment where they feel relaxed and secure.
Understanding that there are many children with moderate learning and developmental issues that could greatly benefit from a school such as Beacon Prep, our goal over the next few years is to develop the staff and facilities that will enable us to work with children of all abilities.
Finally, we believe children (especially children with differences) thrive in a loving, structured environment where they can count on adults to set limits and remain consistent. We also believe teaching respect and manners is a gift we pass on to our children. To honor the comittment we have made to partner with parents to help raise up young men and women of Godly character, we will offer the same environment during the school day that we believe every child should have at home.
